Valpak pushes geo-targeted coupons via mobile augmented reality app

March 29, 2011

Valpak has teamed up with junaio to use the company’s augmented reality application to push geo-targeted coupons from nearby businesses.

Consumers can launch the application and use the smartphone’s camera and GPS to overlay a set of 3D icons in real-time. Customers can then view the available Valpak coupons in the vicinity as they scan their surroundings – with a radius varying from 5 feet to 20 miles away.

Valpak delivers savings and value to nearly 40 million households each month.

Junaio is a mobile augmented reality browser.

How it works
Users can download the junaio app and select the Local Coupons by Valpak channel.

When consumers use the application, coupons and offers pop up on the screen.

Users can view local coupons, savings and deal offers and redeem them at their favorite businesses by showing the local merchant the coupon on their mobile device.

According to Valpak, the junaio application uses augmented reality, which combines real and virtual, making the experience interactive and 3D for consumers.
