Mopay, Neustar, Red Cross and First Data – News briefs

Mopay is working with Fon to let users of the WiFi network pay for Internet access via their smartphone or tablet devices.

By enabling mopay mobile payments, Fon makes it easy for smartphone or tablet users who have limited (3G/4G) or no Internet access to quickly purchase an access pass to its WiFi network. These users can now connect at over three million Fon hotspots simply by providing their mobile phone number.

Fon is the largest WiFi community in the world, with more than three million WiFi hotspots and over six million users.

Neustar Intelligent Cloud simplifies mobile for charities
Hook Mobile and Neustar Inc. unveiled a new demonstration of the Neustar Intelligent Cloud service. Reflecting Neustar’s commitment to community and working collaboratively to achieve better outcomes for its customers, employees and partners – Neustar is demonstrating how charitable organizations can benefit from the power of mobile to engage volunteers and donors.

The CTIA demonstration highlights the Neustar Intelligent Cloud’s ability to integrate multiple mobile services to create a unique mobile experience, all through a single provider and just one agreement.

In the live demo, attendees will be able to participate in an American Red Cross demonstration through Neustar registered 2D bar codes, SMS, MMS, location-based services, privacy controls, and mobile Web content.

The demonstration will enable a user to select volunteer and then find the nearest American Red Cross chapter, make a donation on the mobile Web site, and watch the Heartbreak to Hope 2011 video all through a single mobile solution.

First Data introduces mobile voucher technology for merchants
First Data Corp. introduced mobile vouchers for merchants looking to extend their brand and commerce services to their ever-more-mobile customers.

First Data mVoucher enables merchants to deliver offers to consumers through email or their mobile device.

Sometimes referred to as coupons, mVouchers store a prepaid value funded by the merchant or consumer product goods company.

Mobile vouchers can be delivered as coupons, loyalty rewards, promotional rewards, contest rewards or general marketing initiatives.

The virtual offer can then be used for redemption online or in-store through a mobile device as an SMS or 2D bar code, and ultimately through contactless exchange such as near field communication (NFC).

With major merchants already signed and using mVoucher, First Data is helping its customers take advantage of this latest trend in loyalty and personalized marketing program development.
