LivingSocial takes a bite out of mobile via new LBS deals initiativeBy
The company is letting consumers find immediate deals at restaurants and attractions within a half-mile radius. The mobile initiative begins on June 8 and users can download the LivingSocial app to partake in the instant deals.
“LivingSocial Instant Deals helps consumers discover new businesses and helps small businesses capture foot traffic without upfront advertising costs or street-side couponing,” said Maire Griffin, communications director at LivingSocial, San Francisco.
“While LivingSocial’s Daily Deals are live for 24 hours, Instant Deals are live for a short period of time,” she said. “In this case, the Midtown Dollar Lunch Day deals are available for purchase starting early the morning of June 8 through the LivingSocial mobile application available for iPhone or Android devices as well as on LivingSocial.com.
“Purchased vouchers can be redeemed 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. eastern time that same day.”
LivingSocial offers handpicked daily deals that consumers can share with friends. Members enjoy at least 50 percent off on the coolest, local experiences.
How it works
Consumers can download the LivingSocial app and click on Instant Deals.
Then, consumers can select the lunch they want from the list of available deals within a half-mile of their current location.
After purchasing the deal, consumers just simply walk over to the restaurant and show their voucher to redeem the deal.
LivingSocial $1 lunch vouchers will be available for purchase beginning at 6 a.m. ET and will be available for redemption from 11 a.m. ET to 2 p.m. ET only on June 8.
La Mangeoire, Prime Burger and The Original SoupMan are among the establishments that are offering $1 lunches.
“Consumers, in general, and LivingSocial members specifically, are very mobile,” Ms. Griffin said. “They rely on smartphones and tablet computers now more than ever.
“We’ll also have LivingSocial teams on the ground to help spread the word and make sure our members are experiencing the surprise and delight of great deals across Midtown Manhattan, plus a few surprises as Midtown Dollar Lunch Day unfolds,” she said.
In addition to launching its mobile application back in 2009, LivingSocial recently introduced Instant Deals in Washington.
The company saw that the Washington, DC Instant Deals program was so successful that it decided to roll it out in New York.
“Mobile commerce is growing every single day, and our new Instant Deals are a great example of how LivingSocial is enabling our users to get the best deals in their area straight to their phone,” Ms. Griffin said. “We want to make sure that our members get the best experiences and values possible in their city, and that means making offers available to them even when they’re mobile.
“By combining LivingSocial’s boots-on-the-ground approach to working with merchants with the great accessibility and flexibility of Instant Deals, we are providing value to our members and merchants each day,” she said.
