CardStar offers discounted prescriptions within mobile app

The company partnered with Honest Discounts for the mobile initiative. The Honest Discounts Prescription Card is accepted at more than 60,000 pharmacies across the United States, including CVS, Rite Aid, Walgreens and Duane Reed.

“Our strategy is to continue to deliver convenience, valuable content and innovative features for CardStar users,” said Kristine Lee, spokeswoman for Cardstar. “Honest Discounts provides tangible, useful value with a digital pharmacy discount card that can be delivered in an economical, environmentally friendly fashion.

“We’ve also developed a unique membership card acquisition process so CardStar users can get the card immediately and begin using it instantly at the register at over 60,000 pharmacy locations,” she said.

CardStar is a privately held software company developing mobile applications that perpetuate the use of loyalty cards and mobile coupons.

Mobile discounts
The Honest Discounts Prescription Card Program lets anyone save 10 to 75 percent on all generic or brand name prescriptions not covered by their health insurance.

Users can register for the Honest Discounts Prescription Cards by clicked on the banner in the CardStar application and following the instructions for adding the discount card to the CardStar catalog.

“The new member enrollment process is unique – read the terms, request the card and get it instantly,” Ms. Lee said. “No plastic. No paper.

“No personal information to give, which fits nicely into mobile delivery,” she said. “The Honest Discounts card is completely digital from sign-up to use.”

Money, money, money
Customers can use the prescription card at their pharmacy.

The claims are submitted electronically and discounts are applied at the register in real time.

The company is promoting the Honest Discounts program within various locations within CardStar.

“We have a number of partnerships in the works that run the gamut from completely digital programs like Honest Discounts, to more traditional services like existing loyalty programs that extend offers through CardStar,” Ms. Lee said. “Our goal is to make CardStar the de facto communication channel between consumers and their favorite places to shop.
