Bodog Canada’s Casino pushes mobile for on-the-go gamblers

Bodog Canada’s Casino has launched a mobile version of its online-only casino in hopes of getting a step ahead in the casino market.

Bodog Canada offers sports, casino and poker features on its Web site, and users can now access the same information and gaming on mobile devices. Users can bet on sports and play casino games with real money.

“Mobile is an obvious and natural path for any business that thinks about the future,” said Cezar Kolodziej, president/CEO of Iris Mobile, Chicago.

“The gambling industry is not alone while bidding on it,” he said. “Giving access to customers on the go will definitely extend flexibility for players and attract new ones who are looking forward to playing while commuting by bus or train.”

“All trends show a huge swing of users from online to mobile and gambling is even more contextual and more appealing for consumers on the go. So far, gaming and gambling industries are the leading example of how mobile is helping to engage customers on the go and providing additional revenue streams.”

Mr. Kolodziej is not affiliated with Bodog. He commented based on his expertise on the subject.

Bodog Canada’s Casino did not respond to press inquiries.

On-the-go gaming
According to Bodog, it is the first company to offer a mobile casino in Canada.

The Bodog Casino site is built so that content loads similarly across all devices. The company claims that the site is iOS and Android-friendly and supports iPhone 3, 4, 4S and 5, as well as tablets.

The site features ten casino games, including Blackjack, European Roulette and numerous 3D slot machines, such as Three Wishes, Mr. Vegas, At the Copa, After Night Falls and Mr. Vegas.

Users can sign in to their account or create a new account in order to play the games. The site also has a mobile cashier, where users can check out.

Additionally, Bodog offers sports betting on the mobile site.

The mobile site is not accessible from the United States. Users must provide a valid Canadian postal address to join.

Mobile casinos
While other casinos may not offer full-gaming services on mobile, they are still dabbling in various mobile initiatives.

For example, Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville Casino & Restaurant rolled out a mobile loyalty program for its casino last year (see story).

The Venetian and The Palazzo also leveraged mobile but for a different purpose. The Las Vegas resorts launched an app last year to help visitors find their way around with turn-by-turn directions as well as special offers to lead them into the various merchants and restaurants inside (see story).

In 2010, the Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel & Casino rolled out on-site mobile gaming on a special device called eDeck (see story).

For Bodog, the mobile Web site mainly offers a new channel through which gamblers can access the online casino, but the casino could use the channel for new initiatives that are catered more towards the mobile audience.

“New customer acquisition is the primary goal of any business that wants to grow,” Mr. Kolodziej said.

“Being a pioneer with mobile access for gaming will give Bodog the competitive advantage against their competitors and attract new users who mostly access digital assets from their mobile phones.”
