Wirefly.com joins Microsoft’s Bing cashback programBy
Simplexity’s Wirefly.com, an Internet retailer selling mobile phones and plans, is partnering with Microsoft’s Bing on a promotion to drive handset sales.
Shoppers who visit Wirefly.com using Bing.com, Microsoft’s new decision/search engine, will receive $50 cash back for every mobile phone, netbook or wireless card they buy with a service plan—up to $250 for a five-line family plan. The Bing cashback program costs nothing for consumers to join.
“Bing cashback is delivering great added-value for shoppers, and we were eager to be a part of it,” said Scott Ableman, chief marketing officer of Wirefly.com at Simplexity, Reston, VA. “It’s one of those great win-win situations.
“Microsoft gets more people to use Bing for search, and consumers get an extra $50 for something they were going to do anyway—buy a new cell phone,” he said. “We would love to have participated even earlier, but as the only merchant to have a fixed cashback amount rather than a percentage, some I.T. work was needed with Microsoft to get it live.
“It’s for anybody in the U.S. who buys a cell phone, which is most adults in the United States—all you need is a Bing cashback account, which is free.”
Wirefly.com is a retailer of mobile phones and wireless service plans. Owned and operated by Simplexity, Wirefly.com is an authorized dealer for every major carrier in the U.S.
Wirefly.com also offers discounts and services not available in retail wireless stores, including real-time online order status and tracking, and mobile devices from Motorola, Nokia, Samsung, LG, BlackBerry and many other handset manufacturers.
Mobile phone promotion
Consumers who navigate to Wirefly.com from Bing and complete a purchase receive the cash back from Bing directly to their accounts, even if the transaction amount is less than $50.00.
Many of the most popular cell phones from BlackBerry, Samsung, LG and HTC are free on Wirefly.com, according to Simplexity. The company expects many of its customers to get more cash back from Bing than they paid for their new phones.
Simplexity claims that mobile-phone seekers will still be able to get all of the benefits that come with shopping at Wirefly.com, including a selection of the latest mobile phones, PDAs and smartphones from every major U.S carrier, discounts and savings up to hundreds of dollars less than retail stores.
Wirefly.com also offers straightforward pricing without rebates and free FedEx shipping.
With this new Bing program, Wirefly is hoping to drive online shopping during the holiday season by offering its customers an opportunity to get $50 cash back from Bing with every phone they purchase with a service plan.
To earn Bing cash back, customers go to Bing and create an active Windows Live ID and cashback account, search for “WireflyBing” at Bing, click on the Wirefly.com listing with the Bing cashback symbol, shop on Wirefly.com and complete their purchase.
As soon as their eligible order ships, Wirefly will send an email to confirm their Bing cashback savings.
All money earned will be paid directly by Bing after a 60-day pending period via check or direct deposit.
“The way Bing cashback works is very simple,” Mr. Ableman said. “You can’t get to it through display ads or apps.
“The only way to get Bing cashback is by going to Bing.com and conducting a search,” he said. “You’ll find links to get cashback at Wirefly when you search for most cell phone-related phrases, but we’ve created an easy shortcut: just search for “Wireflybing.”
