Smart Shopping connects Windows Phone users to hyperlocal deals

Windows Phone users can now find hyperlocal deals at more than 60,000 retail locations using the new Smart Shopping application.

The latest release of the Smart Shopping app was launched last week and includes an integration with digital grocery marketing platform Grocery Server so users can see what is on sale in their neighborhood stores. Some of the stores found in the app include Whole Foods, Safeway, Fred Meyer and Rite Aid.

“Retailers and brands can show specific products and offers to consumers before they head to the store, and based on their shopping preferences over time,” said Corbin de Rubertis, co-cofounder/CEO of Grocery Server, Ann Arbor, MI.

“This is the ultimate form of shopper marketing,” he said.

“Shopping list apps to-date haven’t had the connection to local stores and offers – placing the burden of making and maintaining lists squarely on the consumer.”

Shopping made easy
A growing number of shopping apps are available for iOS and Android that combine creating shopping lists with other services such as coupons, special offers and recipes.

The Smart Shopping app is the first time local deals and shopping lists have been integrated on the Windows Phone platform, per Mr. de Rubertis.

Brands have the opportunity to reach Smart Shopping users when they are making their shopping lists.

Users can shop by item or product category, find local stores on a map, get store specials, review past shopping lists and create a favorites list.

Other features include list sharing, an item suggestion menu and an advanced store manager that lets users create different aisles and product lists for different stores.

The Smart Shopping app is an example of how developers can use the capabilities of the latest version of Windows Phone.

For example, with Live Tile integration, Smart Shopping allows for easy, one-tap access to consumers’ shopping lists directly from the start screen. The app also takes advantage of other Windows Phone capabilities such as data tiles, integrated Bing mapping and an enhanced user interface.

Grocery Server is already integrated with a number of iOS and Android apps. Smart Shopping is the first instance on the Windows Phone platform.

Grocery Server’s data spans more than 60,000 retail locations, covers all U.S. ZIP codes, and includes the entire range of grocery categories.

“Smart Shopping now combines an innovative and easy-to-use list making and sharing app with hyper-local retail offers, allowing users to search real products in real stores, from apples to eggs to cabernet,” Mr. de Rubertis said.
