Wells Fargo’s text alerts are seeing high amounts of opt-ins

Wells Fargo has launched a new Visa credit card that focuses on cash rewards and includes a mobile-enabled online banking feature for on-the-go account management, driving purchases and credit card use.

Cash Track is a subset of Wells Fargo’s online banking, available exclusively to new credit card Cash Wise members, and allows customers to view rewards, set goals, track progress and view lifetime rewards on their mobile devices. Wells Fargo is hoping to appeal to customers interested in cash rewards, and is upping the convenience factor with a completely controlled experience on online devices.

“[Cash Track] is brand new and available exclusively for Cash Wise cardholders,” said Natalie M. Brown, vice president of consumer lending communications at Wells Fargo. “It is available through a customer’s Online Banking session, which they can access from their desktop, mobile or tablet.”

Wising up on credit
The bank’s new credit card, Cash Wise, is made specifically for consumers interested in cash-back offers, as it provides a wide range of opportunities to earn cash rewards. Wells Fargo is hoping to drive credit card use by allowing users to set cash rewards goals, which remind users to continue using their credit card in order to receive a certain amount of cash back.

Users are able to track their spending via its online banking service, which now features the new Cash Track tab. The feature is available on mobile and desktop.

Customers can stay up-to-date on their rewards while on-the-go through the Cash Track platform, which congregates all earned cash rewards so users know exactly how much they have earned in real-time. Cash Wise users can also redeem their cash rewards through the online portal and track their progress, as well as estimate their future projection.

Wells Fargo is appealing to consumers interested in convenience and opportunities to earn and save money. Providing users with these convenient features allows for more opportunities to drive use through its easy experience.

Banking on mobile
Wells Fargo also enabled Android users to take advantage of an in-application wallet integration for making NFC payments from their smartphones, highlighting the thickening competition among financial institutions in the payments sector (see more).

The bank reaped the benefits from its mobile-first outlook by revealing that it has sent more than a half-billion SMS and email alerts to consumers’ smartphones, offering information on topics ranging from ATM withdrawals to bank account activity (see more).

“[Cash Track] allows them to view their cash rewards, set a cash rewards goal, track their progress and view lifetime cash rewards earnings,” Ms. Brown said.
