Tango Card lets consumers store gift cards in one universal mobile app

Consumers can buy a Tango Card via the company’s network of online distribution partners such as Tiny Prints. The app is available for free download in Google’s Android Market.

“There’s clearly a lot of Android users right now and we want to make sure that the mobile app is available to them,” said Ethan Schaffer, director of business development at Tango Card, Seattle.

Tango and cash
The Tango Card app lets consumers store their multiple retail cards via one universal app.

Customers can buy the Tango Card and gift cards from retailers such as Amazon, Home Depot and Groupon.

Additionally, consumers can locate stores near them to see where they can use their card.

Consumers can locate the nearest store to redeem their gift card

“We see that in the gift card industry most of those sales are happening in bricks-and-mortar stores,” Mr. Schaffer said.

Present time
Mobile gift cards are becoming all the rage.

Consumers are growing increasingly tired of downloading different apps in which to store their gift cards.

Also, a universal app creates a seamless experience for customers who do not have to dig into their wallet to search for a specific card.

Consumers can simply open up a mobile app and make a purchase at the point-of-sale.

Tango Card is looking to extend to other platforms, including Windows Phone 7 and BlackBerry in the future.

“We see many more gift card sales moving online and mobile,” Mr. Schaffer said, “making it easy for consumers to buy and use their gift cards.”
