EBay claims it generated close to $2 billion in global mobile sales in 2010—more than three times the mobile gross merchandise value in 2009 and considerably more than its projected total of $1.5 billion.
EBay’s PayPal saw a 300 percent increase in mobile payments from the official start of the shopping season on Nov. 15 through Dec. 15 compared to the year-ago period.
Targeting holiday shoppers, eBay has added local shopping results from recently acquired Milo to its RedLaser bar code-scanning application for both Apple’s iPhone and Google’s Android.
