Sears offers exclusive early Cyber Monday deals to mobile users

With Black Friday and Cyber Monday just around the corner, some brands, such as Sears, are eager to get the shopping craze rolling and are responding by offering exclusive early deals to their mobile application users.

Sears is rolling out Cyber Monday deals a few days early for their mobile users and online shoppers this season. The move is an attempt to stretch out the shopping bonanaza that is Cyber Monday, when brands regularly see explosive boosts in online shopping.

“Beyond featuring amazing deals, Cyber Monday shines the spotlight on how Sears has made shopping more convenient than ever for our members,” said Leena Munjal, senior vice president, customer experience & integrated retail, Sears Holdings.

Cyber Monday
While Black Friday is routinely one of the biggest days in in-store shopping for the retail world, Cyber Monday is a similarly explosive day for online retailers.

Online retailers routinely see massive spikes in sales.

This year, the retailer is trying to stretch out that jump in transactions for as long as possible, and it is looking to do it by taking advantage of its most tech-friendly audience – mobile users.

This year, mobile users and online shoppers can access Cyber Monday deals one day early, on Sunday, giving them exclusive access to the day’s deals.

Additionally, consumers will also have an extra day to shop for Cyber Monday deals on Tuesday. This gives consumers a total of 72 hours of Cyber Monday deals.

Conversely, this also gives Sears 72 hours of increased sales; something that it hopes will stick around as consumers who have a positive experience on Cyber Monday continue to shop from the brand after the holiday is over.

Mobile rewards
That Sears is focusing on the value of its mobile users should not be a surprise to anyone who has been following the brand’s use of its mobile app and its mobile rewards program Shop Your Way.

Sears has worked on integrating Shop Your Way with a variety of parters, including big name platforms such as Uber, which now lets consumers earn Shop Your Way points every time they take a ride through the app (see story).

On its own turf, Sears is focusing on using mobile to help smooth out the retail process in-store as well as out. For Black Friday, the brand is offering reimbursements in rewards points for any item purchased from Sears before the holidays that then goes on sale after it has been purchased (see story).

This removes the chance of the annoying situation of making a purchase only to find that item for cheaper after it has been bought.

Sears is making use of its mobile platform to keep customers engaged for as long as possible over the holidays, both as a way of improving customer experience and for raking in as much Cyber Monday revenue as it can.

“One of the best advantages of shopping Sears.com’s Cyber Monday deals is the opportunity to get your gifts same-day or next day for free using innovative services like Buy Online, Pickup In-store and In-Vehicle Pickup, Return and Exchange in Five.”
