SaleLocator enhances iPhone app via daily deal integration

Shoppers can select a daily, weekly or monthly sales alert frequency, including the day or date they would like to receive the email, and can set their base location and radius preferences. The app is available for free download in Apple’s App Store.

“Our strategy is two-fold,” Michael Falkson, cofounder/CEO of SaleLocator. “To offer consumers an easy, efficient way to locate local sales wherever, wherever.

“The interface presents the consumer with an efficient easy to use platform to see all sales and promotions – both advertised and unadvertised – in retail stores going on around them,” he said. “No need to visit retailer specific sites and browse through direct mail check circulars.

“Essentially, SaleLocator helps with locating great sales and deals and plan shopping excursions.”

Deal a day
According to Mr. Falkson, the company also wants to offer retailers – national brands and small businesses – a platform to promote their in store sales and drive traffic to local bricks-and-mortar stores.

Via the new mobile features, consumers can check out nearby seasonal sales and explore sales in more than 20 categories such as clothing, furniture, health and beauty.

“Mobile users are able to view the nation’s coverage of in-store local sales in real time while they are on the go,” Mr. Falkson said. “As an example, a shopper is in a mall but wants to know immediately which stores in the immediate vicinity have sales running.

“With SaleLocator iPhone app, all you need to do is find the categories you’re interested in, get more detail via a search and then instantaneously you are presented with current real time information on nearby sales,” he said.

The main features of the SaleLocator iPhone app include proximity, category, keyword and mall.

Additionally, consumers can share sales via email, Facebook and Twitter and use the My Sales functionality and bookmark their favorite sales and create a shopping list.

“SaleLocator is using a variety of marketing activities including PR, paid and SEO keyword advertising, social media including FaceBook and Twitter,” Mr. Falkson said.

“We expect to launch Android app in mid-Summer,” he said.
