August 22, 2011

Pizza 73 has rolled out an iPhone application that lets consumers customize and order their favorite pizza via their mobile device.

Users can browse the menu and specials via the app. The Pizza 73 iPhone app is available for free download in Apple’s App Store.

“Our strategy was to offer added convenience for customers who prefer to use iOS devices and to attract a new customer base by offering a service that is unique to the industry,” said Pat Finelli, chief marketing officer of Pizza Pizza.

“[We also wanted] to reduce call center costs and labor requirements,” he said.

Western Canadian-based pizza chain Pizza 73 provides quality food to consumers.

Pizza to go
The app uses the iPhone’s GPS-enabled technology to help consumers find the closest location.

Consumers who are registered can receive use their saved profile information and choose their last order with just one tap.

Via the app, consumers can also view current specials, customize their pizza and wings and specify the order type – delivery or pick-up.

“The iPhone platform is the first phase of our mobile strategy,” Mr. Finelli said. “Our analytics show the greatest amount of clicks to our current web site comes from iPhone customers.

“This new app will allow these customers an easier more convenient way of ordering that is better suited on a mobile device,” he said.

Consumers can also view the total in the cart summary throughout their order selection.

The app also features app-only specials and gives customers a variety of payment options such as ordering via mobile or paying at their door.

“Innovation at Pizza 73 is part of our culture, and one of the driving forces is customer convenience,” Mr. Finelli said. “We were the first to launch a one-phone number system.

“For example in Edmonton call 473-7373 and we will route the order to your closest store,” he said. “We were the first to launch online ordering, and now a large portion of our customer base uses this channel since it is so quick and simple – now we are the first in Western Canada to launch a pizza ordering app.

“Convenience is key in this day and age, so not only do we want to serve a delicious, quality product, we want the ordering process to be hassle-free.”
