Monitise Americas enhances mobile banking service nationwide

The service is being offered to financial institutions of all sizes wishing to enter the mobile space. In addition to the company’s enhancement, PyraMax Bank has launched an iPhone application that is powered by Monitise’s technology.

“Monitise Americas’ strategy is set on the belief that mobile banking should be for everyone – regardless of their financial institution or mobile provider,” said Soren Bested, managing director at Monitise Americas, Milwaukee.

“We offer a scalable, modular approach to mobile banking, which provides a highly customizable offering to financial institutions of all sizes wishing to enter the mobile space,” he said. “Likewise, we offer a broad range of services – from basic account information and alerts delivered via SMS to more enhanced functionality delivered via mobile browser or branded iPhone app – which enables consumers to use our service on virtually any handset.”

Monitise Americas currently provides mobile money services to over 200 banks, credit unions, and prepaid issuers around the U.S.

Banks can choose to offer consumers a range of services, including basic account information and alerts delivered via SMS or more enhanced functionality delivered via a mobile browser or a branded iPhone application.

The PyraMax application claims that it has process over 20 million mobile application banking inquiries and transactions in the past six months.

“Monitise Americas intends to deliver applications to other app stores, including Google’s Android Market and RIM’s BlackBerry App World, in the near future,” Mr. Bested said.

In October the company signed 150 financial institutions for its mobile payments service.

The company’s services include balance inquiries, mini-statements, account transfers, bill payments, and same-day payments delivered by a downloadable application, iPhone application or a secure browser.

In addition, 100 financial institutions have signed up for its text services, which include weekly balance texts and account updates delivered via SMS (see story).

“We are getting the word out about this through our partnerships with some of the leading banking and technology service providers, including FIS,” Mr. Bested said. “Monitise Americas is able to offer our mobile solution to financial institutions across the country.”
