Macy’s, DoSomething.org drive awareness, donations via mobile

After consumers scan a QR code, which will be featured in Macy’s and the company will donate $1. The company will donate up to $250,000 to DoSomething.org.

Macy’s delivers fashion and affordable luxury to customers at more than 800 locations in 45 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico and Guam.

DoSomething.org is one of the largest organizations in the U.S. that helps young people rock causes they care about.

Mobile donations
After scanning the QR code, the scan will trigger the $1 donation and teens will have the opportunity to find out ways to take action locally around issues, such as bullying and the environment, in their community.

TV personality Kelly Osbourne, who is currently the face of the Macy’s Material Girl clothing line, will also be featured in a QR video in Macy’s mstylelab departments.

Consumers are invited to scan the mobile bar code and support the causes.

Additionally, Macy’s and DoSomething.org will be rewarding consumers who take action and report back about what they did.

Young consumers can take the Do Something Cause quiz and enter for a chance to win a $250 shopping spree from

Macys, and scholarships will be rewarded by DoSomething.org to the best submitted projects.

Social integration
In addition to the company’s mobile and in-store efforts, users can also take part in a social media activation.

When consumers “like” the mstylelab Facebook page, Macy’s will also donate $1.

The total donation of $250,000 includes in-store scans and online Facebook activations.
