Hertz makes it easier to plan trips, explore cities via mobile app update

Updates have been made to the company’s NeverLost app. Additionally, Hertz teamed up with Waterkeeper Alliance to offer a “Waterkeeper Swim Guide,” accessible to customers via the in-car Hertz NeverLost GPS unit.

Key features
Through the app update, Hertz is also expanding its NeverLost My Explore mobile app to include five new city guides for Baltimore, Chicago, Denver, Detroit and Napa.

Users can download the new city apps on June 10.

The Waterkeeper Swim guide is a tool that brings together real-time beach water quality data from across the United States and Canada free to customers with interactive visualizations on their computer or mobile device.

The Swim Guide, featured within the Hertz NeverLost GPS Explore City in-car content lets customers customize their travel experience by receiving up-to-date information.

Consumers can use the app to maximize their travel experience with customized voice narratives and text descriptions for must-see sites, tours, shopping, neighborhoods, favorites and restaurants.

For example, via the app consumers can rediscover a city, explore niche neighborhoods or take a walking tour to find hidden gems.

Furthermore, users stay up-to-date with local events and choose from hundreds of attractions and the top must-see and -do for each region.

New app features also include augmented reality, which turns a camera phone into a live map at the touch of a screen to show surrounding attractions.

There is also social media integration so users can share travel adventures using Facebook, Twitter and Flickr.
