Hertz lets consumers book vehicles, manage rentals via new mobile apps

The company new applications complement the company’s iPhone app and mobile-optimized site. The applications were created by Grapple Mobile.

Hertz is the world’s largest general use car rental company, operating from more than 8,500 corporate locations in 150 countries worldwide. Hertz is in its 92nd year of delivering quality car rental solutions to leisure and corporate customers.

The new Hertz Europe applications let customer reserve a car, change their reservation or log-in and update their profile.

The company introduced the mobile apps in an effort to ensure consumers can manage their Hertz account while on the go.

The company rolled out its iPhone app in 2010.

“We have seen a tremendous growth in mobile access of the Hertz websites over the last year,” she said. “Mobile enables users keep car rental with Hertz at their fingertips.”

“Availability via mobile broadens our customer segment – from business travelers, to younger renters, to leisure travellers,” Ms. Mansfield said.

Additionally, consumers can access the mobile site by entering http://www.hertz.com on their mobile browser. www.hertz.co.uk/app.

Via the mobile apps, consumers can browse frequent deals, save their Member ID for speedy booking and find nearby locations.

“Like many international brands Hertz has broad appeal and a diverse customer base,” said Alistair Crane, CEO of Grapple Mobile. “The company also provides a service that is most relevant to people while they are on the move.

“As a result, their business lends itself ideally to a mobile format,” he said. By creating mobile apps for all the major platforms Hertz made sure they were catering to the largest possible proportion of their customers and providing them with a way to access Hertz’s services when and where they need them, directly from their mobile handset.
