Hard Rock Hotel & Casino to roll out on-site mobile gambling

The Las Vegas Hard Rock Hotel & Casino has tapped Cantor Gaming to power its on-site mobile gambling initiatives.

Cantor Gaming, an affiliate of the global financial services firm Cantor Fitzgerald L.P., will be providing mobile gaming throughout designated gaming areas of the Hard Rock resort, including Rehab and the Hard Rock Beach Club Pool. Cantor Gaming’s mobile gaming device, eDeck, offers Hard Rock customers the ability to play their favorite casino games such as table games, video poker and slots.

“Mobile gaming gives our customers the convenience of making bets from any of our outlets, from the pool while resting in a cabana to the joint while watching a concert, you never have to be out of action so to speak,” said Mark Gore, casino general manager at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, Las Vegas.

“The Hard Rock logos and table felts will be used on the eDeck device, and the games will look much like the live action games,” he said. “Hard Rock will promote the eDeck to the existing customer database with special offers and incentives to play the games.

“There will also be mobile gaming lounges set up throughout the property to sit and relax in a comfortable setting for mobile gaming but with the typical Hard Rock vibe.”

The Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, owned and operated under Morgans Hotel Group and equity partner DLJ Merchant Banking Partners, is a destination entertainment and gaming resort on Harmon Avenue, one of Las Vegas’ fastest-growing entertainment corridors.

Cantor Gaming offers mobile services to the gaming industry through its proprietary mobile gaming device, eDeck.

Cantor Gaming will launch its own campaign nationally and the Hard Rock will target its existing database and create eDeck awareness throughout the property.

Cantor claims to be the first company licensed to manufacture, distribute and operate a mobile gaming system by the state of Nevada.

Cantor also claims to be the first company to introduce In-Running wagering to Las Vegas, at the M Resort Spa Casino’s Race and Sports Book, in March 2009. In-Running betting allows wagering on live sporting events throughout the event.

On-site mobile gaming
Hard Rock guests can use the eDeck mobile gaming device throughout public areas of the casino property, which includes bars, restaurants and lounges, as well as by the pool.

EDeck offers casino customers the ability to play familiar casino-style games including slots, blackjack, roulette, baccarat and poker within designated areas of the casino property, away from the casino floor.

Cantor Gaming has also developed proprietary games for eDeck including XtraOdds Blackjack and XtraOdds Baccarat, with extra propositional bets that dynamically calculate odds based on the cards dealt, giving players an extra opportunity to press or hedge their bets.

Casinos have the opportunity to brand ad space on eDeck felt or sell the inventory to advertisers.

EDeck also provides a platform where creative game developers will be able to add casino games.

Customers do not enter their credit or debit card information into the device—gaming on eDeck is cash only.

Customers deposit cash into an eDeck account, which they can keep open until they leave the casino.

There is no system limitation to how much customers can bet—the bet limits are set by each casino operator.

“By introducing mobile gaming into the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino, we are offering customers the ability to game in non-traditional gaming areas, such as Rehab and the Beach Club Pool,” said Sunny Tara, chief technology officer of Cantor Gaming, Las Vegas. “We feel it adds a new dimension to the Vegas experience.

“Mobile gaming offers customers greater flexibility, as well as the chance to play new types of games that have been developed specifically for mobile by Cantor Gaming,” he said.
