GEICO strengthens mobile efforts with redesigned iPad app

GEICO has enhanced its iPad application to bring added convenience to consumers.

The app includes new interactive features for GEICO policyholders and iPad users who are searching for insurance information and tools. The app is available for free download in Apple’s App Store.

“Tablets have revolutionized and streamlined how consumers conduct their day-to-day business activities,” said Pete Meoli, mobile manager at GEICO 

New features
The new GEICO app features one-touch pay, swipe and explore interaction, and interactive insurance charts.

Consumers can add pictures of their vehicles and drivers along with viewing policy information and digital ID cards.

Additionally, the app has a new video tool feature that allows iPad users to watch self-help, how-to-videos by GEICO’s Nascar driver Casey Mears.

Through the app, GEICO policyholders can customize their policy by uploading pictures of your drivers and vehicles.

Furthermore, policyholders can pay their bill, view payment information, check out a detailed breakdown of their discounts and coverage and view their claims status and information.

Consumers can also locate taxi, rental car, tow, gas station, locksmith and repair shops applicable to their current or distant location.

Past efforts
Geico is no stranger to mobile.

In 2010, GEICO expanded its mobile insurance market by letting consumers pay their auto insurance bill via an iPad and Android application.

The GEICO GloveBox application gives users access to their insurance services. In addition, the application is available for Apple’s iPhone (see story).

Last year, GEICO ramped up its mobile strategy via an application that was part of its cross-platform marketing campaign which featured a television ad and Facebook app (see story).

“With the new GEICO App for iPad, we’ve focused on expanding the convenience features of the app as well as enhancing our customer’s tablet experience,” Mr. Meoli said.
