Domino’s Pizza sees 140,000 Android app downloads since launch

In addition to an Android app, Domino’s also offers consumers an iPhone application where they can place orders for their favorite meals. According to the company, it now offers its mobile ordering app to more than 80 percent of smartphones on the U.S. market.

“We listened to people, and realized they wanted more ways to order from Domino’s,” said Chris Brandon, a spokesman for Domino’s.

“After the launch of our iPhone App, we realized that we had reached many people – but knew that until we released the Android App, too many people were missing out on this convenient option,” he said.

“We are glad so many Android users have responded and are downloading the app.”

As of the fourth quarter of 2011, through its primarily locally-owned and operated franchised system, Domino’s operated a network of 9,742 franchised and company-owned stores in the United States and over 70 international markets.

The Domino’s Android app is compatible with Android version 2.1 and higher.

The app features the Domino’s online ordering platform and lets users browse current coupons, view the full national menu and use their device’s GPS technology to find the nearest location.

A mobile application is a smart move for Domino’s.

Mobile ordering is all the rage now and consumers increasingly turn to their mobile devices to make purchases – both big and small.

Additionally, extending to the Android platform shows that Domino’s is catering to its customers no matter what platform they are on.

“Android is not only a good platform, but a necessary one in wanting as many people as possible to get the experience of using the Domino’s app,” Mr. Brandon said.

“We now cover more than 80 percent of smartphone users,” he said.

Mobile ordering success
In addition to the new Android app, Domino’s has also partnered with PageMaster Corp. to offer free Android smartphones to customers who sign up for a new two-year service plan plus data.

In addition to its popular Android app, Domino’s has also seen success with its iPhone and iPod touch app, which achieved $1 million in total sales in just 28 days, and just three months after its release, the app achieved more than $1 million in sales in a single week.

“We are constantly looking at innovative methods and platforms to offer ordering convenience and continued interaction with our fans and customers,” Mr. Brandon said.
