Cineplex Entertainment adds PayPal payment to mobile site, app for customer convenience

The PayPal payments option is featured in the company’s mobile apps and its mobile site. Users can access Cineplex’s mobile site by entering http://m.cineplex.com on their mobile device.

“It’s all about providing a choice,” said Kyle Moffatt, director of communications at Cineplex, Toronto, ON. “It’s another way that consumers can pay for their tickets.

“Each time you purchase a ticket, you’re presented with a payment selection,” he said. “If you want to pay with your credit card you can, but now you can pay with your PayPal account too.”

Cineplex owns, leases and has a joint-venture interest in 132 theaters with 1,366 screens.

PayPal lets members send money without sharing financial information, with the flexibility to pay using their account balances, bank accounts or credit cards.

Mobile tickets
For a limited time, Cineplex customers get a deal from the company and PayPal.

From Feb. 10-17, consumers who spend $20 or more in tickets for Cineplex theaters using their PayPal will receive $10 cash back to their account.

When buying a ticket to a movie or an event at Cineplex, customers can select PayPal as the payment option after they have chosen the showtime and entered the quantity of tickets.

Then, consumers are taken to PayPal’s mobile site where they can log-in to their account and confirm the transaction.

“It’s all about giving them a choice,” Mr. Moffatt said. “If someone doesn’t like using their credit card, PayPal is the perfect thing for them.”
