Brookshire’s links mobile, online and in-store to simplify grocery shopping

Regional grocery chain Brookshires has implemented MyWebGrocer’s Plan2Gro 5X platform, enabling shoppers to use their mobile devices as a one-stop source for grocery lists, coupons and loyalty rewards.

The new platform from MyWebGrocer enables retailers to link together store locators, digital circulars, online recipes, coupons, shopping lists and more. As a result, retailers such as Brookshire’s are able to make it easier for shoppers to buy and save on everyday grocery purchases.

“Brookshire’s shoppers can now rely on their mobile devices as a one stop source for everything they need to complete their grocery trip, from planning lists to storing coupons to taking advantage of the circular specials and loyalty rewards,” said Rebecca Roose, senior product manager of MyWebGrocer, Colchester, VT.

“Mobile brings a huge convenience factor, today’s consumer doesn’t have time to sift through weekly sales and clip coupons, but yet with the state of the economy they are looking for value,” she said.

“With the mobile integration, a customer doesn’t have to worry about looking through multiple sources to get a good deal, everything is automatically loaded on their mobile phone.”

Retention and acquisition
By providing integrated multi-channel platforms, shoppers can access information how they want. This supports retailers’ efforts to use mobile as an important retention and acquisition tool.

For example, customers will be able to start making a shopping list on their desktop and easily add items as needed via mobile apps for iPhone and Android.

The apps are linked to the rewards program and are frequently updated with the latest coupons, recipes and weekly specials.

The platform also provides an integrated loyalty program so that all loyalty points are synchronized in real-time across all devices and platforms.

Additionally, exclusive rewards, deals and other benefits are available on “My Shopping List” via mobile devices and online.

The goal is to enable customers to shop, plan and save money wherever they are, whenever they want.

Added convenience
Users download the app and register their mobile device so it syncs with their brookshires.com account and offers.

On the home screen for the app, users have several options to choose from, including creating a shopping list from sale items, viewing recipes and adding ingredients to their list, adding coupons to their loyalty card, looking up personalized offers and finding a local store. Users can also link to the Brookshire’s Facebook page within the app

While in store, customers can shop from their list and redeem coupons and offers via mobile with their unique loyalty card scannable image.

Brookshire’s is a Tyler, Texas-based supermarket chain with 151 stores operating in Texas, Louisiana, and Arkansas.

MyWebGrocer manages digital solutions for more than 114 retailers nationally, representing more than 10,000 stores and 90-plus consumer packaged goods brands.

“People spend so much of their time on their phone, so creating an integrated platform between online, offline and mobile devices makes it more convenient for customers to be able to shop and plan their grocery trips wherever they are, at home or on the go,” Ms. Roose said.

“This makes sense for large chains such as Brookshire’s because mobile integration makes it easier for shoppers to accomplish everything quickly and from one source,” she said.
