BeddingStyle.com sees 28pc mobile revenue jump thanks to search optimization

Mobile search has become a huge driver for product discovery, and retailers failing search capability are losing out on a huge revenue source. Beddingstyle.com was able to grow 28 percent in mobile revenue by optimizing its search for users to be able to easily find what they are looking for.

“Integrated search is something that can really move the needle in the context of mobile commerce,” said Wilson Kerr, vice president of business development and sales at Unbound Commerce, the developer of the Web site. “We integrated SearchSpring for Bedding Style’s mobile site and they saw immediate positive results, with revenue jumping 28 percent in the two weeks following the enhancement. Page views and pages per mobile session increased 14 percent and 24 percent, respectively.

Streamlining search
BeddingStyle.com integrated SearchSpring into its mobile Web site. SearchSpring is a platform that helps retailers grow revenue by allowing products to be more visible and have users find exactly what they are looking for.

Many retail platforms lose out on potential sales with users becoming frustrated with a lagging interface or being unaware of products they would like to purchase because the search did not show relevant items. BeddingStyle.com now provides a search experience on mobile in which shoppers can find highly relevant items to their search entries.

Total page views increased by 14 percent while page viewed per mobile session also grew by 24 percent. The platform also allows BeddingStyle.com to gain insights on what users are searching for, what they purchase and what is relevant to them.

The SearchSpring platform replaces the default setting of the Web site, often known to be less functional and provided less relevant results.

Searching with mobile
Local merchants also realized a more powerful stance on mobile search with users increasingly able to directly order services within results, as evidenced by Pingup’s partnership with Yahoo as well as Yelp’s new tie-ups, including with Delivery.com (see more).

In a reflection of the growing number of merchants tapping mobile location data, Denny’s also bolstered its visibility across several sites and mobile applications, successfully reaching on-the-go consumers and urging them to visit a nearby restaurant (see more).

“Bedding Styles dedicated, integrated mobile site allows them to deliver mobile-specific experiences, to focus on improved mobile results. Brands like Eddie Bauer, Nautica, Perry Ellis, Tommy Bahama and others are featured on their mobile site and the addition of specialized search has had a big impact on mobile sales,” Mr. Kerr said.
