Bank of America rolls out mobile cash back deals to reward cardmembers

August 15, 2012

Bank of America has rolled out the BankAmeriDeals program, which offers cardmembers cash back deals from a variety of retailers such as The Body Shop and Aeropostale.

Through the program, consumers can be rewarded from a variety of retail categories, such as fast food chains and department stories. The program is run by targeted advertising network, Cardlytics.

“Our customers tell us they want easy ways to save money while shopping, this provides that to them,” said Tara Burke, a spokeswoman for Bank of America, New York.

“No clipping of coupons, no searching for deals,” she said.

Bank of America serves individual consumers, small- and middle-market businesses and large corporations with a full range of banking, investing, asset management and other financial and risk management products and services.

Mobile deals
Local and regional merchants including Aeropostale, The Body Shop, FedEx Office, AutoZone, Redbox and the Atlanta Braves are participating in the BankAmeriDeals program.

The offers are available through Bank of America’s online banking, as well as via its mobile application, which is available for iPhone, iPod Touch, iPad, Android, Android Tablet, Windows Phone and Kindle Fire devices.

Consumers can log-in to their account and access the new “Deals” button in the mobile app.

From there, cardmembers can selected the deals they desire and redeem them the next time they shop using their Bank of America credit or debit card or Merrill Lynch credit card.

Additionally, Bank of America is letting consumers stay up-to-date on their deals by signing up to receive email or mobile alerts.

The email and mobile alerts let consumers know about new and expiring deals, as well as the cash back they have earned.

“See our customers using various channels to bank – some prefer to bank online while others prefer to bank in person at branch or via telephone,” Ms. Burke said.

Bank on mobile
Bank of America is no stranger to mobile.

Earlier this year, the company announced that more than 10 million of its consumers are using their handsets to access their banking and financial needs (see story).

Most recently, in a reflection of its commitment to mobile banking, Bank of America started letting customers deposit checks using their smartphones and tablet devices (see story).

“It is about providing our customers choice and offering them a variety of channels to choose from,” Ms. Burke said.
