Text2Pay has rolled out a carrier billing service that lets Android developers enable in-app payments for more than 70 countries.

Text2Pay has introduced Tap2Pay, which lets Android users charge premium application features and virtual credits to their phone bills. The service addresses the growth of Android in recent months and the fact that developers are looking for ways to monetize their efforts in apps.

“Tap2Pay enables developers to generate revenue from within their app — primarily in the Android Market Place, whereas Text2Pay enables Web merchants and developers to accept payments from their Web site,” said Mark Reiken, CEO of Text2Pay, New York.

Developers can integrate the Tap2Pay widget into their app with an API and Java library. It is a white label solution offering revenue sharing.

Text2Pay has developed relationships with carriers in more than 70 countries in support of Tap2Pay. Transactions are processed in 60 currencies and Tap2Pay offers support for 49 languages.

When a user chooses to make a purchase in an Android app, the developer makes one call to start the transaction and the user confirms this with a single tap on a mobile phone. Users can pay for one-off purchases and ongoing subscriptions.

In-app payments are instantly made available to consumers once Tap2Pay is integrated into the mobile developer’s application.

“Both of these solutions offer developers speed to market as we have already built a large global footprint that continues to grow as well as offering developers a white labeled mobile billing solution,” Mr. Reiken said.
