Amtrak has introduced an iPhone application that lets passengers plan trips, modify existing reservations, check train schedules and buy tickets.

The app was rolled out to offer quick and convenient travel planning for travelers. The Amtrak app is available for free download in Apple’s App Store.

Amtrak operates trains in partnership with 15 states and four commuter rail agencies.

Via the mobile app, consumers can buy one-way and roundtrip tickets that can be printed at a Quik-Trak machine or picked up from an agent or mailed.

Passengers can also access the latest train arrival and departure information for their itinerary.

Consumers can use the app to find the nearest station, as well as obtain addresses, directions, amenities and hours.

Additionally, the app lets travelers use their account to see all trips booked and modify existing reservations, including changing dates or trains and upgrading seats.
