American Eagle Outfitters, Swagg offer $100K in mobile gift cards via summer campaign

The AEO Summer Styles campaign is running from June 23 to July 10. Consumers can participate and enter to win by downloading the Swagg app.

“The strategy is to engage consumers for a chance to win Swagg Gifts from American Eagle Outfitters,” said Andy McGowan, director of communications at Firethorn Holdings, Atlanta.

“Swagg is an app that manages gift cards, rewards cards and offers on a consumer’s mobile device,” he said. “Consumers can import plastic gift and rewards cards from over 300 supported merchants as well as buy and send digital gift cards from over 20 participating merchants, including American Eagle Outfitter.

“Plus, consumers can get targeted offers from over 4,500 merchants across the U.S.”

American Eagle Outfitters offers clothing, accessories and personal care products, with 954 stores in the United States and Canada.

Swagg manages offers, and makes plastic gift cards and rewards digital.

Mobile rewards
More than 2,500 winners will be awarded a gift card ranging in value from $25 to $1,000.

To enter consumers can download the Swagg app to their iPhone or Android devices.

Non smartphone users can log on to http://www.swagg.com and create a free account.

Once consumers download the Swagg app, they can tap the “Enter Promo Code” tab from the menu.

Then, users can enter the promo code ‘AEOSS’ to officially enter and click the submit button.

Gift cards galore
American Eagle Outfitters is not the only retailer using the Swagg application.

1-800-Flowers has incorporated Firethorn Holdings’ Swagg mobile application to offer consumers access to gift cards and loyalty programs from their mobile devices (see story).

Additionally, American Apparel is letting consumers give and get gift cards. Consumers can receive personalized offers geared to their individual interests and keep current with their loyalty programs via their handset (see story).

Recently, Swagg announced it is adding Gap to its list of retailers offering mobile gift cards within the company’s application (see story).

“The demand for online shopping has continued to increase and more consumers are interacting with mobile applications as part of their shopping experience,” Mr. McGowan said.

“Going forward, we expect to see more consumers use their mobile devices to send and receive digital gift cards as the mobile device continues to be the remote control for a consumer’s life,” he said.
